    A digraph is a single sound represented by two letters, such as ai in strain (long a).
  19. diphthong
    a sound that glides between two vowels in a single syllable
    A diphthong includes two vowel sounds blended in one syllable, such as oi in oil.

    discourse that surrounds and helps explain a word or passage
    Context clues are words and phrases around an unfamiliar phrase that help readers determine the meaning of the phrase.
