IPA guide

Other forms: wontons

A wonton is a savory dumpling or roll. You'll find wontons on the menu at many Chinese restaurants, often in soup. Yum!

Most regions of Chinese cuisine include wontons (or a variation with a slightly different name). These delicious dumplings are made by filling a square wrapper made of an egg-based dough with ground pork and shrimp or other fillings, sealing the edges, and then either frying them in oil or cooking them in soup broth. The Cantonese source of wonton is wan t'an, "stuffed dumpling."
