George Orwell

George Orwell was an English novelist, essayist, journalist, and critic. Known for his outspoken opposition to totalitarianism, Orwell remains influential in popular culture and in political culture. The adjective "Orwellian" is used to describe totalitarian and authoritarian social practices, and many of Orwell's neologisms, including "Big Brother" and "thought police," have entered popular discourse.
