David Bowles
David Bowles is a Mexican-American author from south Texas, where he teaches at the University of Texas Río Grande Valley. They Call Me Güero won the Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award and the Claudia Lewis Award for Excellence in Poetry, and was both a Pura Belpré and Walter Dean Myers Honor Book.
