Ruth Behar is a Cuban-American anthropologist and writer. Her work includes academic studies, as well as poetry, memoir, travel, and literary fiction. She won the Pura Belpré Medal for Lucky Broken Girl, and her middle grade novel Across So Many Seas was a Newbery Honor Book.
