Over the course of 40 years, she produced many critically acclaimed works with a focus on fantasy and speculative fiction for young readers. She won the Mythopoeic Awards for The Crown of Dalemark and Dark Lord of Derkholm and the Phoenix Award for Howl's Moving Castle.
