    Both Sunshine families balked at the danger and refused to go first.

    shake with fast, unsteady movements
    Frank pulled out his little knife, all fierceness, but I hushed him and went to look for myself. (All quaking inside, I admit, but I could not let them see that!)
  10. fare
    proceed, get along, or succeed
