undefeated

/əndɪˈfiɾɪd/
/əndɪˈfitɪd/
IPA guide

Has your volleyball team won every single game this season? Then it's undefeated — it hasn't been beaten yet!

You'll almost always find this adjective describing sports teams or players who haven't suffered a loss, like the undefeated tennis player who's won all of her matches or the basketball team that's been undefeated for four games. Undefeated adds the prefix un-, or "not," to defeated, "beaten," which we can trace back to the Vulgar Latin diffacere, "destroy."
