studded

Anything studded is decorated or covered with dots, bumps, or other round, raised marks. Your studded snow tires will help you drive in winter weather.

Studded tires are fitted with metal pins, called studs, that protrude from the rubber and increase the tire's traction on snowy or icy road surfaces. A similarly studded object is a cleat, a shoe specially made for field sports. Studded belts, jewelry, bags, or clothes are decorated with studs that provide glitter, shine, or detail to their surfaces.
