Other forms: regrowing; regrows
When something starts growing again after being hurt or grows in the place of something that's lost, it regrows. Even if you hate your new crewcut, you can console yourself that your hair will regrow.
Some animals can lose parts of their bodies, only to have them regrow: most lizards can regrow their tails, spiders can regrow missing legs, and sharks continuously regrow their teeth throughout their lives. That may seem miraculous, but we tend to be less amazed by the fact that plants regrow all the time — if you prune branches off a bush or tree, it will regrow new shoots.
