reflexologist

/ˌriflɛkˈsɑlədʒəst/
IPA guide

Other forms: reflexologists

A reflexologist is someone who specializes in massaging people's feet and hands, paying particular attention to specific pressure points. If you have a sinus headache, a reflexologist might focus on your big toes.

Reflexologists practice the alternative therapy of reflexology, a practice that claims certain zones on our hands and feet are connected to other parts of the body. It involves applying pressure to spots, theoretically "balancing" energy and clearing so-called blockages. A reflexologist may press a spot on the ball of your foot if you have thyroid issues, or squeeze your little finger to help your earache. No scientific evidence proves this practice works, but many people find it relaxing.
