IPA guide

Other forms: reconveyed; reconveying; reconveys

To reconvey is to return something to its owner, or bring something back to a certain place.

When you convey something, you deliver or carry it. Reconvey adds the prefix re-, "again," essentially meaning "bring something back to its previous owner." This word is almost always used in the context of real estate law. After a homeowner pays off their mortgage, the bank or mortgage company must reconvey the title (proof that they own the home outright) to them.
