Other forms: pediatrics

If something's pediatric, it has to do with kids. A pediatric dentist, for example, specializes in cleaning and fixing children's teeth.

You'll almost always find pediatric in a medical context: a pediatric doctor has children as patients, and a pediatric illness affects youngsters. Most hospitals have pediatric wings, areas, or floors, where the very youngest patients are treated. The adjective pediatric comes from the Greek pais, or "child," and iatrikos, "healing."
