maturational

/ˌmæʧəˈreɪʃənəl/
IPA guide

Maturation refers to the process of reaching maturity or adulthood, and maturational is anything that has to do with the process of growing or ripening: “The rejection was a maturational experience."

When something is fully grown or ripened, we say it is mature, and anything that is involved in the process of becoming mature is said to be maturational. In the case of fruits or vegetables, maturational development is dependent upon the proper outside stimuli, such as weather, and results in an edible product. In people, maturational growth must be physical, mental, and emotional––a physically mature person can still be an emotional child if they were lacking in emotionally maturational experience.
