Other forms: home pages

When you visit a website, the very first thing you see is its home page. An online newspaper's home page will show you the latest headlines and breaking news.

Most websites have a home page that acts as an introduction, providing the name of the site and links to additional pages. Your favorite restaurant's home page might include its address and phone number, along with a link to order online. This term was coined in the early 1990s when the internet was brand new. The word page was chosen as a metaphor for paper pages and used in web page as well as home page.
