flowchart

/floʊ tʃɑrt/
/fləʊ tʃɑt/
IPA guide

A flowchart is a diagram that shows you exactly how to proceed step by step through a process. To simplify instructions for your cat sitter, make them a flowchart.

Each step in a flowchart is a box connected to the next step by an arrow. For example, the first step might say, "Is the cat meowing?" with arrows pointing to "Yes" and "No." If you choose "Yes," you may be led to "Feed the cat;" choose "No," and an arrow might guide you to a box that says, "Pet the cat." One step flows into the next, hence the term flowchart.
