astrologer

/əˈstrɑləʤər/
IPA guide

Other forms: astrologers

Astrologers study the stars and planets to make predictions about the future. To an astrologer, the positions of various celestial objects at the moment of your birth can reveal a lot about your personality.

Don't get astrologers confused with astronomers, scientists who study outer space. While astrologers are just as fascinated by our solar system, their methods aren't scientific. Western astrologers use the 12 signs of the zodiac, from Aries to Pisces, along with the position of the sun, moon, and planets, to divine the future and offer guidance about important decisions. Astrologer derives from the Greek astron, "star."
