Other forms: Parmesans
Parmesan is a hard, slightly salty Italian cheese. If your slice of pizza tastes a little bit boring, try adding some grated Parmesan.
Parmesan is short for the Italian Parmegiano Reggiano, named after two provinces in Italy, Parma and Reggio Emilia, where the well-known cheese is made. The distinctive sharp, slightly nutty flavor of Parmesan comes from the process of being aged for at least two years. Parmesan shows up in many Italian recipes and is commonly a last-minute addition, grated finely over the top of pasta, soup, salads, and more.
